While every student’s needs and goals are unique, he always advocates for developing a strong foundation in Western theory and music notation as a valuable, lifelong skill for aspiring musicians.
Through piano study, his goal is to help students develop musical sensitivity and direction, an ear for beautiful tone, rhythmic vitality, and the technical ability to realize their musical imagination. His teaching emphasizes not only how to play piano, but how to learn and practice piano. Every lesson incorporates problem-solving skills, with the ultimate goal of preparing students to one day become their own teachers.
