For kids that are entering school band or orchestra, it can be a very exciting time. It can be a bit scary as well. Our Meet your Instrument classes are designed to take some of those fears away. We will show them how to put their instruments together and how to care for them. With these classes, they will be making music right away and be ready to walk into their first day of class ready to squawk (or rock). No more staring at the closed instrument case all summer in anticipation. Plus, your band or orchestra teacher will be very pleased.
These classes are designed for students that have been playing in band or orchestra for a year or two. Playing a musical instrument is very much a “use it or lose it” proposition. This class will keep the chops of the budding musician in great shape for the fall.
This class is for guitar newbies. Learn everything from the ground up, including good playing position and technique. You will learn notes, scales, barre chords, 12-bar blues and songs like Let It Be, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, and Wish You Were Here.
What better way to spend summer mornings than playing music? This class is for students with some guitar experience who want to further their skills and have fun with other players. Up your guitar game! Each month, David Thomas Bailey will teach you to play 4 iconic rock songs. In June it’s the music of Led Zeppelin, including Stairway to Heaven. July is the music of David Bowie. August is finger-picking classics, including Blackbird and Dust in the Wind. Come for one month or for all three and learn some legendary tunes.
There’s nothing like sitting around a campfire, under the stars, playing your favorite songs with your friends. That’s a great summer night in anyone’s book. But maybe you have a guitar and you know some chords, but not really enough to do anything with. Or you know the first 4 bars of 10 songs. Or just that one great chorus that you play over and over. Campfire guitar will build your repertoire of classic songs that your friends will love to sing along with.
We’d love to help you get started!
